A private English-medium institution in West Bengal тАЩs North 24 Parganas district has come under intense scrutiny after a cache of cash, along with condoms and a bottle of alcohol, was reportedly recovered from within the school premises, triggering widespread outrage and raising serious questions about campus oversight. According to the report, the incident, which surfaced in Kancharapara, has placed Harnett School at the centre of a growing controversy. According to reports, the items were discovered inside a room that appeared to be partially set up like a living space, with arrangements resembling a bedroom , a detail that has deepened suspicion over the nature of activities being carried out within the campus. The unusual recovery was not part of any routine inspection, further fuelling concerns about how such materials remained undetected inside an educational institution. The report said the nature of the roomтАЩs setup has become a focal point of the inquiry, with authorities attempting to ascertain its purpose and access history. School authorities, however, have distanced themselves from the development. The principal has claimed ignorance regarding both the presence of the items and the condition of the room, stating that neither he nor the management had prior knowledge of any such materials being kept on campus. According to the report, the administration has denied any involvement and asserted that an internal probe has been initiated. Meanwhile, the development has quickly snowballed into a political flashpoint. Opposition parties have lashed out at the state government, alleging a breakdown in regulatory monitoring of educational institutions. The report noted that the ruling establishment is likely to issue a formal response once preliminary findings of the inquiry are available. Officials are expected to carry out a detailed inspection of the premises in the coming days.
